The Skrull and Kree Dropping by The Avengers Movie?

That’s the word from the Albuquerque Journal newspaper (via AICN), who writes in the same article announcing that Marvel Studios will be shooting a hefty portion of “The Avengers” in New Mexico, the following:

“‘The Avengers” script will blend ‘Iron Man’, ‘Thor’, and ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ story lines as the Avengers battle with two alien races, the Skrulls and the Kree.”

It’s always been long rumored that the Skrulls (pictured, below left) would be involved in some capacity, perhaps even as the brains behind a “loose” Hulk that forces SHIELD to assemble the heroes to contain. And of course, it makes sense that the Kree (pictured, below right) would show up if those pesky Skrulls, their nemesis, were around.

This actually lines up pretty well with previous rumors about the movie. If you were going to assemble a superhero team like Thor, Hulk, Captain America, and Iron Man, you’d need a pretty damn big threat to do it. An alien invasion by the Skrulls (or, ahem, a “secret invasion”) would do it.

Thanks Nix! Hope everybody had a Merry ChristmaHanaKwanzika! Or Winter Solstice celebration. WOW! Secret Invasion this early!? For the Avengers #1? So if there’s going to be Avengers sequels what can top that?! The only thing I can think of is: Avengers #1 “Skrulls/Kree”, Avengers #2 “Ultron”, Avengers #3 “The Infinity Gauntlet”. I think in that order it could actually work very well if they’re going with the Skrulls now, with Thanos secretly pulling strings, while bits of Avengers #1 and “Ant-Man” (which comes out after Avengers), sets the stage for Ultron in Avengers #2. By the time the Avengers #3 would come out, Marvel Studios/Disney would probably have required most of their other major characters back from the other studios. By this time “The Infinity Gauntlet” would probably coincide with Marvel’s big event for the year 2017.

Actually I take that back, the only thing that could be a proper step up to Avengers #2 would be “Kang”. It all depends, maybe that’ the only way that Ant-Man would really be good is if Ant-Man was all about Utron. Who knows?

I really think that the tone of the animated series Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes on Disney is the formula that the films should follow. Obviously the cartoon has more time to progress the characters. With the stand alone films of Ironman, Thor, Captain America and Ant-Man they could possibly delve into some form of the “Masters Of Evil”. The line-up in the cartoon is not the original roster but it works within the confines of the story. The film M.O.E. could consist of Loki, Red Skull, Mandarin and possibly Ultron. If they do the Kree Skrull war too early it could be disasterous for the franchise. Although I could see the M.O.E. putting a plan in motion while the Avengers fought the Skrulls. Who knows.

Kree and Skrull could work just lets not over complicate things. A lil secret invasion type thing where we find out both races have infiltrated our ranks (Skrulls as conquerers and Kree as protectors) and us starting to get caught in the middle. Avengers 2 should have Ultron, Avengers 3 could easily be a Kang/Immortus thing.

I agree with you, a subtle secret invasion would work well in Avengers 1, but an all out Skrull/Kree war sounds like a premature climax. And we all know that people especially Women hate that. LOL! Avengers doesn’t have to be a trilogy. It could be the Star Wars of cbm’s and look at how many Harry Potters movies have been made. M.O.E, Ultron, Secret Invasion, Kang, Infinity War, Civil War could all be done as long as they don’t try to cram too much into one movie.

Very true indeed. Plus a revolving roster of heroes would change things up. Characters could leave and come back.

Whew! Just found out that this is was a rumor over at “aint it cool”. Skrulls/Kree may feature but not be the premise. Just easter eggs, back stories or cameos to create a build up. Thank goodness.

If what the comments are talking about as far as sequels, those are some excellent future story and roles. What I wish is that if there are plans to do so, why not at least simultaneously write sequels so there is less of a lag between them?
