The first official trailer for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice has debuted on Apple, and ignoring the crass overproduction and the peppy one-liners…well, all you have left is the visuals, which do look pretty slick. Disney went out of their way to show them off. Nicholas Cage still looks like an unclean cross between a mobster and a pimp, and Alfred Molina is only given a few brief glances but seems to slither right into the skin of whichever villainous character he plays. And while nothing can beat Mickey in sorcerer’s clothing, there is also a very cool reference near the end to the original short story that was featured in Fantasia. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, directed by Jon Turteltaub of National Treasure fame, will be in theaters July 16, 2010.
