It took a while — okay, so it took a LONG time — but it appears Richard Kelly has finally made good on letting the world see his “Southland Tales” via a trailer. And it looks, well, interesting. I’m not going to say it looks great, but then again, I didn’t think “Donnie Darko” was nearly as “genius” or “brilliant” as many fanboys seem to think it is. But hey, that’s just me, I’m a contrarian that way. In any case, here is the trailer for Richard Kelly’s “Southland Tales”, his movie about the near-future, a movie crew, porn stars, fascists, and other crap I don’t get. Which isn’t saying much since I never got Kelly to begin with.
Southland Tales is an ensemble piece set in the futuristic landscape of Los Angeles on July 4, 2008, as it stands on the brink of social, economic and environmental disaster. Boxer Santaros(Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) is an action star who’s stricken with amnesia. His life intertwines with Krysta Now(Sarah Michelle Gellar), an adult film star developing her own reality television project, and Ronald Taverner(Seann William Scott), a Hermosa Beach police officer who holds the key to a vast conspiracy.
The future is hear November 9th, 2007.
