Seriously? Of all the kids out there, you go and mess with Jason Statham’s kid? Now that’s a mistake! Check out the first trailer for Gary Fleder’s “Homefront”, a film that features a script by Sylvester Stallone, and it actually looks a lot like something I can imagine Stallone playing. A straight-up “tough guy just wants to be left alone but bad guys won’t let him” type of role.
In the film, Statham plays a widowed ex-DEA agent who retires to a small town for the sake of his 10-year-old daughter. The only problem is, he picked the wrong town, because it’s overrun with meth, thanks to the drug dealing ways of one Gator, played by James Franco, who has a bitchy sister who decides her son getting his ass kicked by a 10-year old girl calls for some revengin’, redneck style!
This, if you’re keeping track at home, is Franco’s second drug dealing role following “Spring Breakers”. He shoulda kept the dreadlocks, because he just doesn’t look all that scary in this one. Smarmy and totally punchable, yes, but that’s basically James Franco playing James Franco. (No offense, James Franco.)
“Homefront” also co-stars Winona Ryder, Izabela Vidovic, Frank Grillo, Rachelle Lefevre, Omar Benson and Kate Bosworth, and fights for your right to live in peace this November 27, 2013.
