Seriously, the entire movie is apparently Tom Cruise working with, then fighting, then running away from large, boulder-sized floating robot sentry orb thingies. That’s, uh, going to get derivative pretty fast right there. Unless, of course, there’s more to “Tron: Legacy” director Joseph Kosinski’s follow-up “Oblivion” that he isn’t showing in the two trailers already released for the film so far. Considering how revealing trailers are these days, this would be a first. Hey, maybe Olga Kurylenko’s character turns out to be a robot and transforms into a flying orb when Tom Cruise least expects it. That would be kinda cool.
Anyways, take a gander at the second trailer for “Oblivion” hailing from the UK, which posits Tom Cruise as Earth’s last hope for survival. Or some such. I’m sure it’s nothing he couldn’t handle.
A court martial sends a veteran soldier to a distant planet, where he has to destroy the remains of an alien race. The arrival of an unexpected traveller causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself.
Also starring Morgan Freeman, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Melissa Leo, and Andrea Riseborough.
