You won’t be surprised to learn that the producers of Neil Burger’s upcoming “Divergent” are already hard at work developing a sequel. The idea, of course, is to go “Hunger Games 2.0” — that is, launch a viable franchise based on a popular YA novel. I’m frankly not sure how popular Veronica Roth’s “Divergent” really is, but it’s apparently popular enough for Hollywood to commit a heck of a lot of money and resources (and star power) to getting it made.
So, here’s the latest image from the film, featuring Theo James (last seen in the underrated — and now, unfortunately, canceled — “Golden Boy” on CBS) as Four. I don’t know why he’s called Four. Maybe his dad was Three. I dunno.
Set in a futuristic dystopia, a teenager seeks to break free from her homogeneous society that divides people based on human traits. She leaves her faction and joins a rival group, where she falls for a older man.
The big cast for “Divergent” also includes Shailene Woodley, Ashley Judd, Ray Stevenson, Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney, Maggie Q, Zoë Kravitz, Tony Goldwyn, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Mekhi Phifer, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Christian Madsen, and Ben Lamb.
Diverging this March 21, 2014.
