Check out three new teaser posters for Roland Emmerich’s “White House Down”, his answer to Antoine Fuqua’s similarly themed “Olympus has Fallen”. (“Teaser” posters because they basically feature random people, and movie posters without the star’s face floating somewhere in the background can’t possibly be considered “official”.)
The curious part about “White House Down” is that every official synopsis I’ve read for the film (like the one below) has it starring Channing Tatum as a “Capitol cop” who gets caught up in the film’s “Die Hard” shenanigans. In the original script by James Vanderbilt that I read (and that sold for a gazillion bucks), Tatum’s character was a lowly Secret Service agent looking to get a promotion to POTUS work. I wonder, though, if Emmerich and company didn’t bump Tatum’s character down to lowly cop in order to differentiate it from “Olympus has Fallen”, which had its John McClane character playing a Secret Service agent. Then again, all the synopsis I’ve been reading could be wrong…
While on a tour of the White House with his young daughter, a police officer (Channing Tatum) springs into action to protect his child and the president from a heavily armed group of paramilitary invaders.
Co-starring Jamie Foxx as the Prez, along with Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods, Richard Jenkins, Rachelle Lefevre, Joey King, Lance Reddick, Garcelle Beauvais, Jason Clarke, and Jake Weber.
All is NOT calm this June 28, 2013.
