Thomas Dekker in Talks for Nightmare on Elm Street Reboot

I have to admit, I wasn’t really for a reboot of Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise, but I’m beginning to warm up to the whole idea of bringing Freddy back in a whole new incarnation. Yes, it certainly helped that Rorschach himself has been cast as Freddy. To me, Freddy is the single most important character in the entire franchise, and the producers went gangbusters by getting Jackie Earle Haley. So everyone else is pretty much gravy.

The latest via STYD has former Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles star Thomas Dekker in negotiations to play one of the teen victims — er, I mean, characters in the reboot. Dekker would play Jesse, a swim team jock who will probably get his at the end of Freddy’s knives pretty early on. Jocks never last very long in teen horror movies, after all. The “jockier”, the faster their death scene.

Fans of Dekker are probably wondering what this mean for the young buck’s TV show, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which just wrapped up its second season last week, with FOX keeping mum on whether the show will return for a third season. Since Dekker is already hard at work on a number of films, including the “Fame” remake, I gotta say, it doesn’t look likely that he believes he has a show to come back to.
