Thomas Hayden Church Joins Willian Friedkin’s Killer Joe

Thomas Hayden Church (Lowell from the classic NBC sitcom “Wings”) has signed on for William Friedkin’s black comedy “Killer Joe”. Church joins a cast that already includes Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch, as we reported earlier.

The script, by Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning writer Tracy Letts, centers on a brother (Hirsch) and sister combo who plot the death of their mother for the insurance money and hire “Killer Joe” Cooper, a cop and contract killer (McConaughey) to do the deed.

It is not specified what role Church will play in this “white-trash gothic”, as the 1991 play has been called, but the dark, gritty material is in good hands with Friedkin, and he is building a solid cast.
