With news that “Spider-Man 4″ is grinding to a halt after Sam Raimi and Sony couldn’t agree on a villain for the fourth movie, thereby potentially delaying its start date and, subsequently, its May 6, 2011 release date, Marvel has moved up “Thor” by two weeks from its originally scheduled May 20, 2011 release date. Meanwhile, Disney did a little of its own shuffling by setting the fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, subtitled “On Stranger Tides” in “Thor’s” old May 20, 2011 date. Sony, for its part, says not to be too hasty, because they could very well iron out their differences with Raimi and get this puppy into dock by its original May 6, 2011 date.
So what does this all mean? Well, you’ll get “Thor” two weeks early, and Disney is apparently sure enough that “Pirates 4″ will sail forward they’ve already set a date.
