Thunder Levin’s American Battleship Gets a Quick 40-Second Trailer

Truthfully, I don’t think “American Battleship” looks any worse than Peter Berg’s big-budget science fiction actioner. Both films look absolutely ridiculous, though “American Battleship” seems to understand that the premise isn’t worth putting a lot of money into. No joke — when Berg’s endeavor is playing to empty theaters all across the country later this year, I’ll be watching Thunder Levin’s corny flick in the comfort of my own home. And that’s exactly how it should be.

Here’s what you get plot-wise:

When a fleet of mysterious ships wage war against the Earth, only the crew of the USS Iowa, the last American battleship, can prevent global armageddon.

In case you haven’t heard, “American Battleship” stars Mario Van Peebles and Carl Weathers. Beats the hell out of Taylor Kitsch and Rihanna any day of the week. The film arrives in various formats on May 15th, 2012. The trailer in all its glory rests below.

Author: Todd Rigney

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at)
