No surprise here: Tim Burton and “Wanted” director Timur Bekmambetov has optioned the film rights to Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”. As I said when I first heard about the book, there was no way this thing wasn’t going to find its way into theaters sooner or later, though I’ll admit, getting Burton attached was a major coup. Forget low-budget film adaptation, this thing is going big-time Hollywood. Burton and Bekmambetov previously produced Shane Acker’s “9” together, and this looks like something right up their alley.
Grahame-Smith’s fictional novel purports to tell the secret vampire hunting career of Abraham Lincoln, America’s 16th president. Check out a trailer for the book below. Now picture it with a bigger budget and an A-list star or two.
