Tim Burton Directing Pirates 4? Captain Jack Gets a Brother?

Gore Verbinski has been the only director the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films have ever known, but what if he doesn’t return for a fourth “Pirates” movie with the film’s gazillion dollar leading man Johnny Depp? Perish the thought! Then again, would the millions who flock to the theaters to see Depp do his Jack Sparrow thing really notice if some guy name “Gore Verbinski” isn’t listed as the director? Or would they even notice if Tim Burton’s name is there instead? Um, probably not. There is a reason why the average actor gets paid an obscene amount of money more than the average director or writer — because people go to the movies to see them. Think about all those Steven Seagal or Jean-Claude Van Damme movies you were all excited to see back in the ’80s and ’90s; know who directed any of those movies? Told ya.
So there’s a rumor floating around the net that Disney has Tim Burton lined up as a possible replacement for Verbsinki should the director not return. You can read the original source over at Cinema Blend, but I would take it with as much grain of salt as you can muster. Meanwhile, these other casting rumors, also from CB, seems a little easier to swallow:
Most excitingly, there are talks of Captain Jack having a brother in the next movie, possibly to be played by Sacha Baron Cohen (perfect!) or Russell Brand (even more perfect!) Of course, that’s probably just fantasy casting, but why would either of those comedians turn the role down? As we’ve mentioned before, the new movie might kick off a trilogy, which would revolve around Captain Jack’s search for the Fountain of Youth.
So, Tim Burton to direct Pirates 4? I wouldn’t count on it. In fact, I would probably just ignore it and go on to the Captain Jack having a brother part. That seems more likely. Cohen would be great in the role, but Brand would be annoying and make me want to blow my brains out.

Hey cant wait for Pirates 4. I actually think that Tim Burton will bring more people to see it. I’m not trying to Knock Gore Verbinski, but i love Tim Burton. Plus we all know the chemistry between Depp add Burton.

Damn i would actully love it if Russell Brand took on the role . seriously that would be so hot -drools- anyways if they dont bring it back im sure some-one in time will pick up the script i mean look at indiana jones .

wait, batwoman, are you sure you know who russell brand is? perhaps you are confusing him with russell crowe. russell brand is the gross, somewhat offensive unfunny british guy with hair that looks like it has been regurgitated by a jungle cat. russell crowe is the acclaimed actor in gladiator
i would be interested to see what tim burton did with pirates, but i seriously doubt he would do it. i’m looking forward to alice in wonderland.

I’ve heard the rob pattinson rumors too and I’d love to see him in it. Frankly I can’t stand russell brand and I’m not a fan of sacha baron cohen either.
I hope burton does it because he could bring a whole new life to the a series that I actually thought jumped the shark so to speak in the second one. The third I liked but that was because I got to see Mutiple Johnny Depp’s. I’m just Glad that the sickly sappy sweet Will and Elizabeth crap is done and over with.
Besides a brother I wanna see his father and learn more about his family history. I know he became a pirate at 15 because something happened to his mother. I think she was arrested if I remember right. It was in a prequel book to POTC about a young, teenage Jack Sparrow that this stuff was revealed.
I cannot stand Russell Brand.I hope they do not choose him.I’d rather have Robert Pattinson play Jacks Brother.<3
I would like to see what tim burton would do to pirates of the caribbean 4. But i heard that they were going to take out will and elizabeth! they can’t take them out! they are two of the main characters in the trilogy!
the guy in pirates 3 was his brother and his fathers probally dead. I mean remeber when he asked his brother “How’s mum?” All there was was a shrunkin head! also i dont see how will could come back being on the duchtman and only coming back every 10 years
That’s his Father, Capt. Teague Sparrow, played by none other than Keith Richards of the ROlling Stones, who Depp said inspired the protrayal of Jack in the first place.
