Timothy Olyphant’s Justified Scores Big Ratings for FX

Well slap me silly and call me a happy little school boy, because it looks like my favorite new show of the year, the Timothy Olyphant-starrer “Justified” did pretty well in its debut last night. According to FX, the show’s premiere drew 4.16 million viewers, giving the basic cable network its second highest premiere ratings since the network’s gritty cop show “The Shield” introduced us to the very grey world of Vic Mackey in 2002. “Justified’s” numbers also made it #1 for the night in basic cable in terms of total viewers, as well as adults 18-49.

“Justified” stars Olyphant as Raylan Givens, a no-shit taking U.S. Marshal who is demoted back to his Kentucky roots after he takes out a Miami scumbag in broad daylight. In Raylan’s defense, he did give the gangster 24 hours to skidaddle, which the dead fella refused to take seriously.

The show co-stars Nick Searcy, Jacob Pitts, and Erica N. Tazel as Raylan’s fellow Marshals, and Natalie Zea and Joelle Carter as the women in his life. New episodes air every Tuesday at 9:00 central on the FX Network.
