Timur Bekmambetov Fights Vampires with the Knights Templar

Horror Movie News, The Knights Templar (2010) Movie — By Nix on May 6, 2008 |

Timur Bekmambetov may have broken the hearts of Russian movie fans everywhere when he kinda let the cat out of the bag that he wouldn’t be completing his “Night Watch” trilogy, at least not anytime soon. But cheer up, fans of Russian sci-fi/fantasy/horror, because Universal has just picked up a spec script by Adam Torchia and Justin Stanley called “The Knights Templar” for Bekmambetov to produce and possibly direct?

The Hollywood Reporter has more:

The script, a period actioner, revolves around the Knights Templar, who fresh from the Crusades fend off an invading vampire army seeking to destroy the Holy Grail.

Every movie I’ve seen has always shown the Knights Templar to be less than good guys (Ridley Scott’s “The Kingdom” comes to mind), so they’re due for a PR boost. Plus, you add in vampires, and this thing could get pretty wacky pretty fast. Meaning, of course, that it’s right up Timur Bekmambetov’s alley, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he decided to direct it later.
