TMNT Star Megan Fox Tells Fanboy Haters to Fuck Off

I’ll hand Megan Fox this: the girl sure doesn’t mince her words. Remember that whole brouhaha over her calling her “Transformers” star Michael Bay a Nazi? That got everyone pissed off at her, including, of all people, Steven Spielberg. It also got her fired from the third “Transformers” movie.

But Fox and Bay have since made up, and the director eventually cast her as April O’Neill in his upcoming reboot of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” (Bay is producing, with Jonathan Liebesman directing.)

Obviously, as with all things fanboy-related, some people had issues with Fox’s casting. I have no idea why. It’s a movie about mutated turtles that are also ninjas. Seriously. There is nothing these people can do that would make the film any sillier, including casting Fox as ace reporter and turtle confidant April O’Neil.

During a press junket, here’s how Fox responded when asked about the mostly negative reaction by fanboys to news surrounding the film, including, of course, her casting (via Cinemablend):

Let me tell you something about those people. How much money did Transformers 4 make? Exactly. Those people can complain – they all go to the theater. They’re gonna love it – and if they don’t love it, they can fuck off, and that’s the end of that.

Oh snap! I can totally picture Fox doing the “Z” thing with her fingers as she said that.

But like I said, folks, it’s a movie about mutant ninja turtles. Does it really matter who they cast in this thing as long as the mutant ninja turtles are running around doing mutant ninja turtle things?

It’s like people complaining about “story problems” with the “Transformers” movies. Why?

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” starring Fox, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, and Tony Shalhoub, opens this Friday on August 8th.

In the meantime, here are some new pics from the movie:

See this right here the fundemental lack of respect for the people who have loved these franchises is why Transformers sucked so bad. Bring on the death threats.

Um, no. Transformers sucked so bad because Bay did with it what he could in 2 hours per movie. You need time to build characters and lore, and such, and if he spent the time doing that people would complain there wasn’t enough action. He puts action front and center and people complain about a lack of story. AGAIN I say go back and watch the cartoons. Other than a few exceptions the show was “Decepticons come up with new plan for energon cubes/destroy autobots. Autobots get wind of plan. Battle ensues. Autobots stop Decepticons, Decepticons run away.” No more no less. The comics is where the story got deep and that was over years, and then again with the new “Transformers Prime, ” show.
We get all excited looking through the rose tinted lenses of nostalgia, but the shows really don’t stand up to the memories all that well. The show was designed to sell toys. The movies are pretty much a continuation of that. Ninja Turtles is suffering literally because of Bay’s connection. Anyone saying anything about the director ruining the film? Nope, just Bay, and he’s only producing. And other than Megan Fox, I’ve really liked everything I’ve seen so far for this, and I’m not hating on her either, film needs some eye candy!!
And in this case, yes Fox is a terrible actress, but in most cases it’s cause they don’t think the actor will fit, i.e. Ben Affleck, Heath Ledger, Michael B. Jordan, etc. But she has every right to address the hates that Hate, just to Hate. Seriously because they’re gonna hate, no matter what. They go see the movies they hate on, giving money to those they hate on, and probably secretly enjoy the movies a little but have to continue hating for the sake of hating. That’s a lot of work. I ignore stuff I don’t care about. Why give it more attention?

I was with you up until “needs some eye candy”.. I can’t be the only person that wouldn’t mind seeing a movie from my youth without some can’t act “good looking” woman in it. Mind you TMNT has April so you need that female part, but Transformers could have had zero woman and it wouldn’t have disrupted the story at all. In fact it might have made it better. But maybe it is just me.

        • Dedpool

I was kidding. But I’m sorry I like looking at pretty ladies. Hell if they’re going to be on screen and can’t act, at least they’re easy on the eyes. That said, I don’t like female characters being put in for the sake of looking good. Give me a character to like. But yeah TF didn’t need Megan Fox, but Megan Fox needed TF.

Haven’t kept up with news about this, but has it been confirmed whether or not the turtles are aliens? Most of the complaints I’ve read/heard from reviewers, writers and bloggers have focused on that and others have taken her casting as the coffin nail for any “hopes” for the movie. She’s clearly taking this personally, so I wonder if she’s aware of the early rumors that caused so many fans to cry foul even before she was hired. Which in armchair psychology terms would explain why an otherwise beautiful woman under 30 like her would do whatever the hell she did to her face

Not aliens. Basically updated origin. Same as always but specifics are different (who owned the turtles), connection to April, etc.
