Robotech will be a great movie… but Toby Maguire as Rick Hunter… NOOOOOO… He did a good job with spiderman but will fail as rick hunter… They ruiened this movie already… just like dragonball evo…. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please recast….. I refuse to pay to watch this movie if Toby is the lead actor!

The characters are supposed to be TEENS.
That is essential…

Aaron is VERY correct, Captian Gloval should be Edward James Olmos. Even when I was a kid, I though he, in Miami Vice, looked like Gloval.

Also, I hope they make the cheesy names, like “zor” sound better, use the same name, just give it some kind of accentuated twist to give it more mature “depth”, perhaps like ts-uh-r. Shame “Robotech” itself sounds cheesy these days. What seemed amazing then is now not so far fetched, given enough money….. these days “robotic-morph-tech” sounds less cheesy… the “Robo” is just so over used… now let’s all do the robo-dance.

Get with it ‘Fans’ – Super Dimensional Fortress Macross – THE ORIGINAL storyline is far superior to Robotech modification.

I’m a fan of the genre, but SDF is the storyline they should follow.

Toby needs to get to Jackie Chan to help him find a Chinese Pop princess and a martial arts champion to take these roles. Also, Gloval is Russian. Sean Connery!!! Are you kidding?? here is the scoop. this movie is not something to put a small budget on by any means. the longer th!is movie is the better the story line must be deaper than that of the slandered american version. it must live up to what a true robotech and mecha fan desires. this movie if successful (not could) will open up to sequals. this could definitely become like the starwars franchise, even bigger! this is not a cartoon we are talking about here this is a live action movie. the script MUST be as true to Macross as possible. please dont ruin this. im watching robotech right now. i joined the military to study technology that will give me an insight on a future career in mechanical engineering. more specifically towards Mecha. i cried at the end of the macross saga. i was 10 at the time and i have not looked back since. i expect a lot from this movie and i expect it to be done right.

And….I repeat….absolutely no Tobey Maguire for Rick..And to Hollywood…Do not waste this once in a lifetime chance for this great cartoon. We need to make it as Huge as any great movie and if possibly be the best…To the producers, Dont ruin it by making a low cost under the radar movie (e.g. dragonball evolution. etc).

Rather take the guy who played Frodo in LOTR. That took serious acting, not just swishing a stick around and seeing stars. And, when comparing to Rick hunter, he actually looks a lot more like Rick than the Harry goPotty – kid.
