Tod Williams to Direct Stephen King’s Cell

Cell Novel by Stephen KingTod Williams of “Paranormal Activity 2” fame has been attached to direct the upcoming horror flick “Cell”, the big-screen adaptation of Stephen King’s novel of the same name by Cargo Entertainment.

(Yes, people actually direct those “Paranormal” movies, it’s not just a bunch of people sticking cameras into corners and then telling other people to make stuff up as they walk around a house pretending to be spooked by invisible things, though you’d be forgiven for thinking that.)

“Cell”, which is set to star John Cusack, will find the Cuester playing “a graphic artist who struggles to reach his wife and son in the aftermath of a devastating pulse transmitted through a mobile phone network.”

That devastating pulse has also turned most of the world’s population into mindless savages linked together psychically. Hey, it’s a Stephen King story, you gotta know there will be some kind of psychic stuff going on, right?

Williams will direct from a script written by Adam Alleca and King himself.

Richard Saperstein, Brian Witten and Shara Kay will produce the adaptation, which is scheduled to go into production in May.

“Cell” has been in development for quite some time now, but it looks like the film is finally going to happen. Unless, of course, something else happens, then it won’t.
