Tom Berenger in Sniper Legacy (2014) Movie Image

I love me some Tom Berenger behind a rifle scope. Remember 1993’s “Sniper”? That movie launched a franchise, though if you don’t partake in the direct-to-DVD movie market, you may not have known that. I did, and I’ve seen all of the “Sniper” movies, including 2002’s pretty good “Sniper 2″ and the equally pretty good “Sniper 3″ in 2004. Seven years later, we got the not-at-all-bad but unfortunately Tom Berenger-less “Sniper: Reloaded.” Although Berenger didn’t show up for “Reloaded,” his co-star from the original “Sniper,” Billy Zane, did. That film also introduced Chad Michael Collins as the son of Berenger’s character, who is also a sniper just like dear ol dad.

The latest is “Sniper: Legacy,” which teams Collins and Berenger as father-and-son, thus bringing, I guess, the franchise full-circle. Or some such. The point, is it’s Tom Berenger back behind a rifle scope shooting fools! One shot, one kill, suckers! Ahem. Check out the trailer and poster for Don Michael Paul’s “Sniper: Legacy” below, those of you who enjoy checking out movie trailers.

A rogue gunman is assassinating high-ranking military officers one by one. When Gunnery Sgt. Brandon Beckett is informed his father, legendary shooter Thomas Beckett has been killed, Brandon springs into action to take out the perpetrator. But when his father rescues him from an ambush, Brandon realizes he’s a pawn being played by his superiors to draw out the killer. It’s up to the two men, bound by blood, to bring an end to the carnage.

Starring Chad Michael Collins, Tom Berenger, Dennis Haysbert, and Mercedes Masohn.

Shooting to DVD this September 30th.
