Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal’s post “Hurt Locker” effort, “Triple Frontier” has already had its share of big names attached to the ensemble cast. Stars like Sean Penn, Christian Bale, Javier Bardem, and even the Fresh Prince, have all met with Bigelow about the picture.

Now Deadline reports that Tom Hanks is seriously considering joining the team. He hasn’t committed to anything, but he is looking hard at one of the five lead roles.

“Triple Frontier” is about the notorious tri-border area along the junction of Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil. Because of the geography of the region it is especially difficult for governments to monitor, and is a haven for smugglers, organized crime, and terrorist groups.

Production is set to begin early next year.
