Sooner or later, George Miller is going to get around to making “Mad Max: Fury Road”. Or maybe not. The guy is 67, after all, there isn’t exactly a lot of years left there for him to do everything he wants. And so if he wants to ever do those two “Mad Max” movies that he has been talking about doing for the last decade and change, he best get on with it.
According to Tom Hardy, the new Mad Max (replacing Mel Gibson), there’s a very good chance that “Fury Road” will shoot soon. Or at least, he’s treating his face like he’s getting ready to shoot the post-apocalyptic movie, thick bear stubble and all. He tells USAToday:
There are not a lot of razors out there in that world. I’m at least going to show up on set with a beard and say (to director George Miller), ‘Do you want me to shave this?’ I’ve been in the post-apocalyptic thinking for the past six months.
Sounds like Hardy is ready to survive the apocalypse. Of course, he might be the only one.
He also tells Empire:
We keep moving that around, you know? Who knows when it’ll come out? I’ve been on stand-by for two years… but it’s all part of it. It’s kind of the cool thing to do, to be elusive with dates and all that.
Of course, George Miller could just decide the further adventures of Mad Max is way too hard and just end up doing another shitty “Happy Feet” sequel. After all, you can never have too many dancing penguins doing songs that are at least two years stale by the time they hit theaters.
