Everyone’s favorite Marvel villain Loki aka Tom Hiddleston is apparently so gung ho about playing Eric Draven in Relativity Media’s troublesome reboot of “The Crow” that he’s already taken meetings with the producers and even “sent them a makeup test that he did on his own in London”.
The makeup test, of course, is to see how he would look in Crow make-up, since that’s what he’ll be wearing for much of the movie. After his character dies and is resurrected as the titular Crow, that is.
It’s certainly looking good for Relativity to bag a well-known name among comic fandom, as although Hiddleston has only played bad guys in the Marvel films (or, well, a bad guy, since he’s only played Loki), Hiddleston is apparently a swell guy in real life, and even when he’s being a big meanie onscreen, moviegoers kinda, well, like the guy. Go figure.
If Hiddleston does end up signing on, it would help “The Crow” reboot to finally move forward. God knows the production hasn’t had much luck in that area, with a string of directorial defections, and at one point the studio thought they had Bradley Cooper attached to star. They currently have a director in F. Javier Gutierrez, and would be keen on getting this thing into production by the fall.
“The Crow”, of course, will be a reboot of the 1994 movie directed by Alex Proyas (“Dark City”) and starring the late Brandon Lee, who died during filming. It is the creation of comic book artist/writer James O’Barr, and spawn a slew of shitty sequels, most of which went direct-to-DVD.
