Tommy Wirkola’s Hansel and Gretel Delivers a New Red Band Trailer and Poster

“Dead Snow” director Tommy Wirkola’s Hollywood debut, the big-budget fantasy “re-imagining” of “Hansel and Gretel” was supposed to come out this year, but it’s since been pushed back to January 2013. I’ll let you decide if that’s a hint of the film’s quality. I think it looks like a decent, entertaining flick, albeit one that probably costs more than it should. The film already looked goofy enough, and now this new Red Band trailer pretty much convinces you this thing is too goofy to take seriously. Exploding villagers, witches, and a lovely Gemma Arterton all await you by way of a new trailer and poster.

In this dark spin on the fairy tale, siblings Hansel and Gretel are a formidable team of bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world.

“Hansel and Gretel” stars Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare, Pihla Viitala, Zoe Bell, Derek Mears, Thomas Mann, and explodes into thick chunky witch chunks early next year.

Looks like it’ll give us the crazy gore a horror action comedy like this needs, so no worries from me.

I’m with you. Reminds me of the action of Van Helsing (which I’m in the minority of people who enjoyed it for what it was, campy silly action from the guy that did the Mummy which was, campy silly action!) with the plot of Brothers Grimm, and to a lesser extent “Snow White and the Huntsman,” because of the classic fairytale gone drak theme.
