Has the Will Smith superhero movie “Tonight, He Comes” gotten a title change? And has that title now become “John Hancock”? And does this sound really crappy or is it just me? CHUD apparently agrees that it’s crappy, as they are the ones reporting the name change, and IMDB.com certainly agrees with them, as they’ve listed the film under “John Hancock” as well. I’ve been hearing a lot about this film for a while now, and for the life of me, I can’t figure out if they’re going for a gritty feel (Peter Berg the director would kill with this), or if they’re doing a more cheeky approach to superheroics.
Here’s the plot:
A hard-living superhero (Smith) who has fallen out of favor with the public enters into a questionable relationship with the wife (Theron) of the public relations professional (Bateman) who’s trying to repair his image.
The film is written by two Vinces, Vince Gilligan and Vincent Ngo, and will be directed by Peter Berg. It stars Will Smith, Charlize Theron, and Jason Bateman.
“John Hancock”, formerly “Tonight he Comes” (still like this title better) is scheduled for a July 2nd, 2008 release, which means it will be a Summer Tentpole film Smith’s big movie next year.
