Tony Jaa Enter the Dragon Remake Casting Rumor

Written by Nix | August 17th, 2007 | 4 Comments |

So this guy who knows this guy who works at this place heard some names being bandied about for the cast of the upcoming remake of Bruce Lee’s “Enter the Dragon”, to be called “Awaken the Dragon”. (Yeah, why didn’t you guys just call it “Awaken the Dragon” and NOT tell us you were remaking “Enter”? Nice going there getting the geeks all pissed off, geniuses. You’re already Strike One out of the gate.) Anyhoo, the casting rumors actually have a couple of names that makes sense, but there is one in there that I think is out of the question, much the same way that the “Green Hornet” remake with Stephen Chow sounds like a total impossibility.

Here they are:

Lee played by [Tony Jaa] (not bad, just not BL)

Roper played by Tom Cruise (ugh…just threw up in my mouth a little)

Williams played by 50 Cent (God have mercy, I wish I was kidding)

Ohara played by Jon Cena (WTF?!?!?!?!?!)

Tom Cruise to play second fiddle to someone? His ego could never handle it.

The 50-Cent and Jon Cena one, sure, maybe.

And the Tony Jaa one? I could believe it. Jaa has mentioned that he wants to start doing American, or more International, movies to break through into the Western markets. And the whole idea behind the project (tournament fighting) would be the perfect fit for him.

So okay, I don’t like the idea of remaking “Enter the Dragon” one bit, but I do like the idea of this casting rumor. It would, simply put, be the perfect entry for Jaa into Hollywood.

NOW this…is interesting…I’m hoping he does get to…and FINALLY a chance to hear him speak…maybe he’ll finally learn how to speak English…or be given the chance to…bet he’ll find that is THE most difficult thing to do on this movie..haha…as we’ve seen he has no issues with “stunts” and “acrobatics”…wow…this is really coming full circle…For HIM at least hah…

Why haven’t you looked at the Urban Ninja Xin Sarith Wuku. It’s seems he ’s a better prospect. Chinese, Cambodian, speaks english very well. looks great on film. Great martial artist and Tony Jaa is much like him.
