Top 10 The Dark Knight Trilogy Moments

WARNING: THIS LIST INCLUDES MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR “THE DARK KNIGHT RISES”

10- TUMBLER CHASE (BATMAN BEGINS)

This ain’t your daddy’s Batmobile! The Tumbler is a sight to behold. Lucious Fox’s baby was one of those things that before the film came out, as a fan of the comics and the Tim Burton movies, I could not wrap my head around. There were no sleek lines. There were no fins. What was going on?!?! Nolan’s realistic explanation of Batman’s facilities and resources was great. However, when Batman evades Gotham’s finest using his borrowed Wayne Enterprises R&D division vehicle all of my concerns were automatically dispelled.

9- SHOWDOWN (THE DARK KNIGHT)

How do you surpass the awesomeness that is the Tumbler? Make two of the wheels pop off and convert into a badass motorcycle, that’s how! What begins as a routine escort of Harvey Dent, the man who came forward as Batman to stop The Joker’s vicious attacks, turns into a high speed chase through Gotham’s Narrows. Batman and the Joker are destined to go on like this forever. However, it is here their game of cat and mouse comes to a head amidst screeching wheels and blazing gunfire. This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immoveable object.

8- ROBIN REVEALED (THE DARK KNIGHT RISES)

A lot of people had an issue with Nolan’s version of the Caped crusader’s legendary sidekick. Some fans cited Nolan’s disregard for the character’s history and his lazy inclusion of the signature moniker as their main gripes. I for one thought it was brilliant. Nolan has always taken certain liberties with the source material and tweaked them for the better. This, to me, is no different. Being that this was the true end to the saga he wanted to include every iteration of what was the single most important supporting character ever in the cannon. He took the best parts of each Robin, infused it with some Nightwing and Azrael and what we got was a solid, well rounded character that would be willing and able to take the place of Gotham’s Dark Knight.

7- TWO-FACE (THE DARK KNIGHT)

Harvey’s world has been turned upside down. His main sqeeze killed, his face disfigured and his sanity all but lost. Enter The Joker. The very madman that orchestrated the entire set of unfortunate events. The District Attorney with the fractured psychosis is convinced to “introduce a little chaos” to what is left of his life. Sadly, Dent finds out first hand that “you either die the hero or live long enough to become the villain”.

6- THE INTERROGATION (THE DARK KNIGHT)

Heath Ledger and Christian Bale in The Dark Knight (2008) Movie Image

It is in this explosive scene that you see The Joker’s utter lack of morality and Batman’s eternal incorruptibility meet. Joker has a simple demand, Batman must make a choice. He must break his one rule. Which person will he save and which will he let die? Two lives hanging in the balance, the city on the verge of destruction and a desperate hero’s fate all at the whim of a madman.

Bruce escaping the Lazarus Pit should be there somewhere

That was a great, albeit long, scene.

Covered all the bases, but I wish there was room for one of the Scarecrow moments from “Begins” and Alfred’s absolutely painful breakdown in front of the Wayne’s grave. As sketchy as the fear gas plot was, the effects work for onscreen Scarecrow seemed truly terrifying the first time around

    • Juggernaut

The scene when Scarecrow accidentally gets gassed and sees Batman as the demonic crature with black gunk oozing from his mouth was on the list but dropped due to revisions. i also loved Alfred’s breakdown but I think I’d go with the scene between Bruce and Alfred when he quits/gets fired. That was such a touching and poigniant scene.

God, Black Tar Demon Batman seemed so unsettling and make-up was fantastic. And I think Michael Caine’s Alfred is as iconic as Bale=Bruce/Batman. You could easily do a Top 10 Alfred Moments list

          Agreed.

Damn what a wrecked list. The interrogation room scene should be higher. Bane’s plan? Robin? You used the word “brilliant” for someone saying “hey by the way did you know your name was robin” ROBIN! That’s brilliant? It’s the laziest, cheapest way possible.
