Moviedom has supplied the fantasies of bored men with a lot of fetishes over the years. Oh-so-tight corsets, wet T-shirts, tall leggy beauties walking around in nothing but a man’s shirt. But perhaps the best wardrobe the movies ever introduced to the world at large is pleather — a combination of plastic and synthetic leather. Basically tight, form-fitting clothes that demands to be worn as tightly as possible, which means the actress who slips them on better have her gym routine down at least a month before the start of shooting. Here, then, is our Top 5 Great Moments in Movie Pleather. It’s no coincidence that a lot of the women who made our list happens to have starred in comic book movies. Comic book vixens and pleather go together like comic book superheroes and underwear worn on the outside of pants.

#5. Sienna Miller in “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra”

Sure, Stephen Sommers’ “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra” has all the stank of a bad movie, but it does have one thing going for it: British lovely Sienna Miller prancing around in skin-tight black pleather shooting people, firing missiles, and teasing all the boys with her milkshake. Isn’t that worth $10.00 at the theaters? Okay, maybe not so much, but that’s why DVD was invented. You know, pause, freeze, and the such? At the very least, the “Joe” movie will have given us another great moment in movie pleather, and for that, we would like to thank Stephen Sommers. Now if only he would take the gun away from Storm Shadow. Seriously, WTF? He’s a ninja, man, ninjas don’t carry guns. But I digress.

It’s three pleather wearing Goddesses in one. What else can you ask for? How about either Famke Janssen, Halle Berry, or Anna Paquin showing up at your door and accepting your invitation to attend that party in your basement you’ve been working on ever since you saw the first “X-Men” movie? Failing that, there’s always watching Bryan Singer’s two tales of superpowered hotties in skin-tight black pleather taking on bad guys over and over again. (And yes, we’re going to pretend like the third movie never happened.)

Carrie-Anne Moss became a sensation with the world of S&M after her appearance as Trinity in the “Matrix” movies. We’re not into that sort of stuff (at least not on the weekdays), but we gotta agree, there’s something incredibly hot about Moss as she jumps, karate kicks, and precision strikes her way through the three “Matrix” movies. Forget Keanu Reeve and Neo — we’d rather watch Trinity take on a gaggle of cops, flying around on a motorcycle, or bursting through skyscraper windows firing off round after round with her handguns while free-falling. Now that’s putting the pleather through its paces!

Before she wowed us with her perfect form-fitting pleather bod in the “Underworld” movies, Kate Beckinsale was known as the very cute British girl in the romantic comedy “Serendipity” and as the very cute British girl playing an American nurse in “Pearl Harbor”. Plus, she did some British films you probably never saw. She was so Godawful smoking in the first “Underworld” movie that the director fell in love with her and married her. See, I told you film school was the way to go. It could have been you who fell in love with Kate Beckinsale and her skin-tight pleather body while you were directing her, but instead you’re doing the night shift at the Dairy Queen. Sucker.

When you think kinky comic book supervillain, the name Michelle Pfeiffer doesn’t exactly pop into your head. Which is why when Pfeiffer slipped on the black pleather, men everywhere (and some of you women out there, and you know who you are) went ga-ga for cocoa puffs. Before “Batman Returns”, Pfeiffer was always the classy, sophisticated, and totally unattainable and out of your league Goddess in movies like “The Russia House”, “Tequila Sunrise”, and “The Fabulous Baker Boys”. And then she actually moved onscreen in that leather outfit and … yup, that’s right, Michelle Pfeiffer in “Batman Returns” was the bod that popped a thousand fanboys’ cherries, and you know who you are.
