Top Cow’s Latest Comic Book to Movie: Alibi

Alibi Movie, Comic Book Movie News — By Nix on August 4, 2009

Who knew that when Marc Silvestri was hatching his X-men clone comic book Cyberforce for the fledging Image Comics back in the early ’90s, that Silvestri and his Top Cow imprint would end up being the most successful of the bunch when it comes to translating their comic books into other medium? Or if not the most successful, then definitely the most active, especially of late. Top Cow’s latest stab at movie glory is “Alibi”, a comic book created by Top Cow president Matt Hawkins and Michael Renegar, and written by Joshua Hale Fialkov with artwork by Jeremy Haun.

Variety says Mandeville Films is teaming up with Top Cow to bring the comic book to the big screen. The books star a wealthy and well-known socialite who has a secret twin brother that just happens to be an assassin for the Government. Being that his twin is out there in the press every day being seen, it gives the trigger happy twin the perfect alibi to run around knocking people off. Of course, all that comes crashing down when someone uncovers their secret.

To no one’s surprise, the tone of the books (and would-be movie) is being compared to the Jason Bourne films and “Wanted”, another comic book turned movie. Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will produce along with Top Cow head honcho Mark Silvestri.
