Those wacky Nazis and their Jew-hating ways. Won’t they ever learn? You don’t pick on the Jews, especially when they’re being led by Daniel Craig, aka James Bond himself. These guys must have a death wish, which is exactly what they get in the “based on a true story” (re: Hollywood’s very liberal interpretation of a kinda true event) World War II action movie “Defiance”, which surprisingly has flown under the radar for a while now, even with the film’s December 12, 2008 release date fast approaching. The movie is directed by Edward Zwick (“Glory”, “The Last Samurai”), who maybe knows a thing or two about big-budget, epic action storytelling.
Three Jewish brothers (Craig, Schreiber and Bell) escape from Nazi-occupied Poland into the Belarussian forest, where they join Russian resistance fighters and endeavor to build a village in order to protect themselves and others in danger.
Starring Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, Jamie Bell, George MacKay, Alexa Davalos, Jodhi May, Mark Margolis, Mark Feuerstein, Tomas Arana, and directed by Edward Zwick.
