Trailer Debut: D.J. Caruso’s I am Number Four

The teaser trailer for the Michael Bay-produced sci-fi actioner “I am Number Four” (based on a series of young adult novels co-written by James Frey — you remember, that guy that lied about being a junkie on Oprah?) has landed online. If you know anything about the novels, you know it’s about alien refugees hiding out on Earth, but this teaser trailer seems to be hiding that fact for some strange reason. Maybe they don’t want to scare off the “Twilight” kids with sci-fi “nerd” stuff…

Extraordinary teen John Smith (Pettyfer) is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events-his first love (Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny.

Starring Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Teresa Palmer, Dianna Agron, Kevin Durand, Callan McAuliffe, Jake Abel, and directed by “Disturbia” and “Eagle Eye’s” D.J. Caruso.

Arriving February 18, 2011.
