Trailer Debut: Joaquin Phoenix’s Faux Documentary I’m Still Here

Here’s your first look at the Joaquin Phoenix-Casey Affleck faux documentary “I’m Still Here”, which follows Phoenix as he “quits” acting in order to pursue his dream of a rap career. It’s all bullshit, of course, but take a look at it anyway, if only for the scene of Phoenix standing around with his gut hanging out. Talk about going all the way for the sake of a gag!

I’m Still Here is a portrayal of a tumultuous year in the life of actor Joaquin Phoenix. With remarkable access, the documentary follows the Oscar-nominee as he announces his retirement from a successful film career in the fall of 2008 and sets off to reinvent himself as a hip hop musician. The film is a portrait of an artist at a crossroads and explores notions of courage and creative reinvention, as well as the ramifications of a life spent in the public eye.

Opening in limited release September 10, 2010.
