Trailer Debut: Jonah Hex Finally Rides into Town

At long last, the trailer for “Jonah Hex” has arrived online (via Yahoo). I know, you didn’t think you’d ever see it, right? Well hah! You were wrong! Now check out the full trailer below and tell us what you think. Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex laconic and ugly enough for ya? Megan Fox in corsets and saloon girl outfit hot enough for ya? Well? Anyways, I don’t know why, but for some reason I was expecting Jonah Hex’s origins to be less, well, generic.

Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone…and anything. Having survived death, Jonah’s violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the “other side.” His only human connection is with Leila (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah’s past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can’t refuse: in exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah’s oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead. Based on the legendary graphic novel, “Jonah Hex” is an epic adventure thriller about one man’s personal quest for redemption against the vast canvas of the battle between good and evil.

Starring Megan Fox, Josh Brolin, Will Arnett, John Malkovich, Michael Shannon, Michael Fassbender, Brandi Coleman, Natacha Itzel, David Jensen, and directed by Jimmy Hayward.

Revenge gets real ugly June 18, 2010.

It was the early 70's man what do you want? LOL. All the really cool origins had been done already really. I mean if you think about it Hex is a Wild West version of Solomon Kane. The trailer actually looked better than I thought it would. But still looks a little on the capmy side. I'm still interested in seeing it.

The DC Showcase short on “Batman: Under The Red Hood” is Jonah Hex as well and has Thomas Jane playing the role. Jane auditioned for the role in the live action movie in a way similar to Tobey Maguire for SPiderman and Jackie Ealre Haley for Watchmen. He actually had a makeup artist scar up his face and took a pic. It's floating around the net.

Was that also his comic book origins, though? I always thought he was just a gunslinger with a f'ed up face and nothing more. The trailer looks more like the Will Smith movie “Wild Wild West”. They even threw in a token black guy.

For the most part. They may have changed slight details but yeah. Ex confederate, horribly scarred gunslinger who seems to keep getting drawn into supernatural or sci-fi adventures. In JLU he meets GL,WW, and Bats and knows they're time travelers. His response to why would he think that. “I've lead an interesting life.”

Didn't they change the character back in the 80's, when DC did the big “Crisis on Infinite Earths” shakeup? From what I remember, Jonah Hex wound up in a post apocalyptic future following “Crisis”. That'd be fun to see maybe in a sequel….

Yeah but in his most recent series it's back to his roots. Supernatural and brutal Wild West stories. He has also shown up on “Batman:The Brave and The Bold,” recently too.
