Trailer Debut: Resident Evil Afterlife Brings the 3D Zombie Apocalypse

No sooner after they showed the trailer for the masses at WonderCon, Sony has now released the official version of the trailer online. It certainly looks like director Paul W.S. Anderson designed the movie around the 3D elements, many of which you can seen in the trailer — the plane coming at you, bullets, flying debris, etc. Hopefully these moments will fit into the movie and not come off as an obvious gimmick. But hey, at least it can’t be any worst than the 3D conversion massacre that was “Clash of the Titans”, right?

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice (Milla Jovovich) continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive, the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Starring Milla Jovovich, Wentworth Miller, Ali Larter, Kim Coate, Kacey Barnfield, Shawn Roberts, Spencer Locke, Boris Kodjoe, Norman Yeung, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.

The 3D zombie mayhem begins September 10, 2010.

I guess this is the insane logical ending for the film franchise. I like that they're finally doing something with Wesker in the films, I also like how Chris looks like his RE5 counterpart. All in all I think this may actually be better than any of the sequels so far. I actually like that the films deviated from the games. They took it to the extreme and basically said what if you failed in the games to keep everything contained. This is what we'd get.

Ending? Doubt it. The film will probably do gangbuster business with the 3D elements, which means, of course, sequels.

Well you guys did say they were thinking reboot. This would be the end of the first franchise before a reboot. I believe the games will be doing a reboot soon as well. My friend/cohost is a huge RE fan and keeps up on that stuff. He said something about Capcom rebooting the series from the beginning. But not in the Hollywood sense, but mor elike the comic book sense. I.E. Golden age Green Lantern to Silver Age Green Lantern.

  • i luv resident evil

love it looks like theyve really out done themselves with this movie im in love with the part of the clones jumping out the windows lol real matrix moment i cant wait to see this movie in fact i might go see it twice lol

The reboot idea I believe went out the window after Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich came back onboard. I believe they were thinking reboot when it appeared neither would be coming back. Of course they could just reboot the sucker in a couple of years once both Jovovich and Anderson says adios for good. You gotta figure they don't want to keep doing the same ol movie all their lives.

i would have to say to everyone the first movie was awesome made sense to do a prequel and paul w.s. anderson should have directed the other two films. i mean the second was good the last one was okay just was stupid having the end of the world end. also Anderson is back in the directors chair and this one apsolutley looks promising i just hope they explain what the hell happened to jill valintine and that little girl angela, besides we all need a 3d zombie flick and what better to have a zombie film that started it all than resident evil. all in all this movie looks like its going to kick ass and they will make sequels because of how many games there are.

the last two movies werent that bad but they could hgave been better but once they introduced wesker in the third movie was cool. but i think they should have introduced leon or rebeca chambers from the games.but i am hoping that this movie will wrape everything up in this movie franchise.

Wouldn't doubt it as Capcom is talking about rebooting the game franchise itself. I'd like to see where it goes. Probably more of a terrorism route like 4 and 5 but starting it all over from the beginning. I think it'd be pretty cool if the reboot mixed the game and movie worlds. A sort of retcon of the original story so that it all fits together. Game one would be the Hive, game two would be the mansion and forest and game 3 would be Raccoon City.
