Trailer for HBO’s Post-Rapture Show The Leftovers Isn’t Going Anywhere

Justin Theroux in The Leftovers

It’s HBO, so yes, cursing, sex, and violence abounds in this two minute trailer, so be warned.

Anyhoos. Here’s the first full-length trailer for “The Leftovers,” which boasts as being from Damon Lindelof, one of the guys behind “Lost.” The series is based on the book of the same name by Tom Perrotta, and if you go to the book’s Amazon.com page, it has an amazing 3-star (out of 5) average. Most books hover around the 4-star mark. In order to get 3-stars, you’d need to have reviews that are amazingly balanced across the board, which “The Leftover” has.

In any case, HBO is making a series off it, but from what I’ve read, unless Lindelof decides to throw in some super conspiracy and whatnot, it’s basically going to be a show about a bunch of people in a small town trying to adjust to life post-Rapture. They apparently do this by being mad, drinking, and having lots of promiscuous sex.

Then there’s a cult and stuff.

Great music and apparently lots and lots of angry people being dramatic, but other than that, it doesn’t look all that interesting to me, specially given the premise. But hey, maybe it’s just me. Check out the trailer below and judge for yourself.

Starring Curtiss Cook, Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Carrie Coon, Christopher Eccleston, Ann Dowd, Amanda Warren, and Liv Tyler.

The show premieres on the paid cable net this June 29th.
