Trailer for Hercules: The Legend Begins is Basically Spartacus with Questionable CGI

I guess it’s somewhat appropriate that former “Spartacus” star Liam McIntyre has a role in this movie as Hercules’ buddy, because watching this three minute trailer for director Renny Harlin’s “Hercules: The Legend Begins” reminds me a lot of McIntyre’s Starz show. The whole editing tricks, the forced CG landscapes, etc. “Spartacus” can sort of get away with it — they are dealing with a cable TV budget, after all. But isn’t “The Legend Begins” supposed to cost tens of millions? At this rate, having the guy from “Twilight” as the star may be the least of the film’s problems.

But hey, don’t take my word for it. Check out the first full trailer for “Hercules: The Legend Begins” for yourself and feel free to make up your own mind. Who knows, you might think it’s uber epic. I guess that’s ONE possible conclusion. Even if it’s, you know, wrong.

Hercules: The Legend Begins is an upcoming adventure film starring Kellan Lutz as the mythical Greek hero. Betrayed by his King and sold into slavery, Hercules must use His formidable strength to fight for his freedom and return to his true love, Hebe, the Princess of Crete.

Starring Kellan Lutz, Gaia Weiss, Scott Adkins, Roxanne McKee, Liam Garrigan, Rade Serbedzija and Liam McIntyre.

Going all Maximus next year March 2014. (So does that make Scott Adkins Commodus?)

1.15 made me laugh. It was so obviously a PA throwing a bucket of water through a hole in the set.

After IMMORTALS tanked you would think they wouldn’t be keen to make any more 300 rip-offs.

  • Aegon the Conqueror

They should rename this move the legend ends. Watching the trailer everything about it screams out that this is a singularly bad idea.

I’m a big Spartacus fan. Why didn’t they just call this Spartacus the move. I can live with that. To call this Hercules, that just really sucks. It kind of degrades the power of Hercules by the way they are showcasing him in the Roman Colosseum as a gladiator.

I agree with you in the fact that they shouldn’t call it Hercules – it doesn’t really follow anything from the original legend. But as a Spartacus fan, I don’t think I’d want to watch a movie that doesn’t have the same awesome impact as the tv series. That being said, I’m definitely going to watch it for Liam Mcintyre.

    • Aegon the Conqueror

I could live with him going to the colloseum seeing as they are using the latin version of his name. But still basing this story in Greece, thats just wrong. Plus Twilight eeuw!

  • Kal-El-1983

Looks more like a TV show than a film. This, Immortals, Wrath of the Titans..Where is the God of War film…

    • Aegon the Conqueror

Brett Ratner has fucked up enough franchises if you ask me.

Hercules, the Thracian Wars will kill this!!!!
