Last we heard, a “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie was headed back to the big screen in an all-new reboot sometime in 2012. Of course, we haven’t heard much from the film, but until the TMNTs do get their act together, check out the teaser trailer for an independently-made “TMNT” movie by one Polaris Banks. (I’m guessing that’s not his real name?) Banks has elected to cover the entire trailer with music, which is somewhat curious. I mean, when a guy hits some dude with a hockey stick so hard that teeth and blood go flying, I kinda want to hear that happen, don’t you?
Based on characters created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic books, Casey Jones is the story of a brutal vigilante who vows to single-handedly rid his neighborhood of crime. Armed with a golf bag loaded with clubs and sporting a fearful hockey mask, Casey stalks the alleyways by night, mercilessly trouncing any delinquents unlucky enough to cross his path, until an unlikely ally from the sewers is forced to intervene.
According to Banks, the film, titled “Casey Jones”, will premiere for free next Sunday, August 14th, 2011, at the Marchesa Hall and Theatre in Austin, Texas. I have no idea if this is a full-length film, or just an extended fan short film, so if you do drive over, don’t blame me if you did it just for 10 or 15 minutes worth of Casey Jones busting up bad guys (and homeless dudes). Although, according to the film’s Facebook page, the screening is scheduled for an hour.
And for those who can’t make it to Austin this August 14th, you’ll be able to watch the entire thing online for free at caseyjonesthemovie.com after Sunday.
The cast includes Hilarion Banks as Jones and Chris Frasier as Michelangelo.
