Trailer: Joss Whedon’s The Cabin in the Woods Finally Opens Its Doors

Let’s fact it, at times it seemed as if we’d never get to see the Joss Whedon-written/produced “The Cabin in the Woods”, thanks to all the shenanigans going on with MGM. Well the film is now slated for an April 13, 2012 release, and the Drew Goddard-directed horror/comedy/sure-to-be-hip slasher film has debuted its official trailer. Take a look and tell us what you think, won’t you? It’s a heck more sci-fi-ish than I thought it would be, to be perfectly honest with you. What is that, an invisible forcefield? Where did these kids end up, the island on “Lost”? Sheesh.

A young professional visits a quaint cabin in the woods with a group of friends and ends up scratching the surface of something so massive and horrific that they can only begin to fathom it as time quickly runs out.

Starring Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, and Amy Acker.

Well, the trailer really took me by surprise.

    Resembles Cube.

  • Brent McKnight

That looks way different than I expected it to, but it also looks pretty freaking awesome.

Yah. I thought it would be hipper, less, er, “Lost”-ish.

  • Juggernaut

All of that hype and waiting for THAT?!?! Ugh.

  • Dedpool

I’m seeing one part Eureka, one part plain old horror. I’m thinking the cabin is in an area where the government is doing or has done some messed up things (biological testing etc) and they release their home made creatures to kill off anyone who might get close.

  • Cody Armstrong

legitimately a waste of two and half minutes, that was awful

I for one am glad they went in this direction. I mean, otherwise it would have just essentially been the Evil Dead reboot without Diablo Cody……

OK does the long haired kid sound like Shaggy from scooby doo or am I just losing it?
