Eli Craig’s “Tucker and Dale vs. Evil” is probably the most inventive horror movie to come out in, oh I don’t know, the last decade or so. Or at the very least, it has an actual novel twist that turns the genre on its head — in this case, the bad guys are actually the good guys, and our young, hip college friends visiting a lonely dark cabin in the woods are actually victims of, well, Darwinism. This Red Band Trailer for the film actually gives away a number of the film’s great moments, but I suppose that was inevitable. If you get the chance, definitely give Tucker and Dale a swing. They may be beer guzzling hillbillies, but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve your patronage, too.
The film stars Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk as the titular Tucker and Dale, with Katrina Bowden as the hot little number who ends up in their cabin and their hearts. Also co-starring Jesse Moss, Philip Granger, Brandon Jay McLaren, Christie Laing, Chelan Simmons, Travis Nelson, Alex Arsenault, and Adam Beauchesne.
You’ll be able to catch the film first from Magnet Releasing via VOD on August 26th, before it entertains a limited theatrical run on September 30th.
