I think you can guess which one of the two roles she’ll be playing, right? This is Kristin Kreuk, after all, the pretty girl from “Smallville”. That movie career didn’t quite go as planned (then again, starring in the horrific “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li” probably didn’t help), so Kreuk is back on TVland as the female lead in a new TV show.
Based on the ’80s show of the same name that starred Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton, Kreuk will play Catherine, “a tough-minded NYPD Homicide Detective haunted by witnessing her mother’s murder 9 years ago and the killers’ quick demise at the hands of a Beast. After years of searching, Catherine finally finds the Beast, Vincent Koslow, the survivor of a military experiment that went disastrously wrong, and becomes the protector of his secret life as a bestial superhero.”
Because when you think “tough-minded NYPD Homicide Detective” you think Lana Lang from “Smallville”. Right.
Anyways, Kreuk is returning to the CW, where she spent a lot of her time playing would-be Superman’s smalltown squeeze. If I’ve learn anything about the CW in recent weeks reporting on casting notices, it’s that the network really, really likes casting the same people over and over for their TV shows.
Gary Fleder will direct the pilot, from a script by Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper.
Now all that’s left is to cast this ugly guy…
