Two Badass Trailers for the Russian Giant Robot Extravaganza August Eighth

Holy crap. The upcoming Russian adventure flick “August Eighth” looks completely bonkers. Not only does the film feature plenty of war-related melodrama, elaborate giant robots, and a plethora of explosions, it also has a boy in a goofy “Spy Kids” outfit interacting with some sort of “Ultraman”-style character who appears to enjoy back-flipping through fire. How impossibly nifty is that? You know you wanna see it.

Story-wise, here’s what the film has to offer:

August Eighth – story of an ordinary young woman. Ksenia’s life is not too happy. Problem at work, problem in personal life, problem with mother, a baby requiring constant cares… Ksenia want to spend a few days in Sochi with new boyfriend, and mom sends her son Artem to the boy’s father on Caucasus. But Georgia started war and she must overcome fear, overcome circumstances, she must save her child.

“August Eighth” opens in Russian theaters on February 22nd, 2012, courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox. Why they didn’t release this thing, on, you know, August 8th, 2012 is beyond me. Maybe someone here in the States will think that’s a swell idea and get on top of that. Seriously. Do it. As soon as possible.
