Harold Zwart’s “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” stars Lily Collins (she of the impressive eyebrows) as a teenage girl who discovers that she has the power to save the world. Or some such. You know, your everyday, typical Young Adult novel teenage heroine. This is the first of a would-be series (and of course by “would-be” I mean there will only be a series if this one makes money, or makes money-ish, as was the case with the “Percy Jackson” movies), even though the producers have already announced they are moving forward on the second movie. I wouldn’t put too much stock in that, though. That’s what they always say.
We’ll find out if the kids that read the books show up at the theaters later this month. Until then, check out two clips and a gaggle of new images from the film. Ah, teenage love. And sorcery.
When her mom is attacked and taken from their home in New York City by a demon, a seemingly ordinary teenage girl, Clary Fray, finds out truths about her past and bloodline on her quest to get her back, that changes her entire life.
Starring Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Lena Headey, Kevin Durand, Aidan Turner, Jemima West, Godfrey Gao, with CCH Pounder, with Jared Harris, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
The kids save the day August 21st.
