A very normal looking Nicolas Cage chases a psychotic John Cusack in director Scott Walker’s serial killer drama “The Frozen Ground”. The film is based on a true story, which probably explains why Cage is so subdued in the role. I’m not sure if I like this. Nicolas Cage not freaking out in a movie that involves serial killers and a trashy Vanessa Hudgens just seems, I dunno, wrong somehow.
Check out two clips and a handful of new images from the film below. It’s cold out there for a serial killer.
The Frozen Ground is inspired by the incredible true story that follows Alaskan State Trooper Jack Halcombe (Nicolas Cage) as he sets out to end the murderous rampage of Robert Hansen (John Cusack), a serial killer who has gone unnoticed for 13 years. As the bodies of street girls start to pile up in Anchorage, fear strikes a chord with the public. Risking his life, Halcombe goes on a personal manhunt to find the killer before the next body surfaces. When a seventeen year old escapee (Vanessa Hudgens) reveals key information about the case, Halcombe is finally on the trail of the killer.
Starring Nicolas Cage, Vanessa Hudgens, Jodi Lyn O’Keefe, and John Cusack.
“The Frozen Ground” opens nationwide and will be available On Demand this August 23, 2013.
