Jason Statham is a copper chasing a serial killer who kills coppers in “Blitz”. I know, you haven’t heard much about this movie, right? It looks like the type of film that, if it wasn’t starring Statham and you saw it, you’d think to yourself, “Why isn’t this movie starring Jason Statham”? Or something like that. The UK gets it first on May 20th, but no signs of a Stateside release date yet. With Statham onboard, it’ll probably get some airplay here eventually, I’d imagine. If you missed it, check out the Red Band Trailer for “Blitz” here.
BLITZ stars Jason Statham as the tough, uncompromising and un-PC detective “Brant”, who is teamed with unlikely partner “Sgt Porter Nash” (Paddy Considine) to investigate a series of police murders. BAFTA and Tony Award-nominee Aidan Gillen (HBO’s The Wire) and fellow BAFTA-nominee David Morrissey (Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, State of Play, Nowhere Boy) join the cast as a cop-hating serial killer “Weiss” (Gillen) and hack crime reporter (Morrissey), while Zawe Ashton (St Trinian’s II: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold) features as Brant’s colleague “Elizabeth Falls”.
Written by Nathan Parker (Moon) and produced by Zygi Kamasa, Steve Chasman (The Bank Job), Brad Wyman and Donald Kushner, BLITZ is the second feature to be directed by Elliott Lester.
