As it unfolds, we know more about Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” from what it isn’t than what it is. It is like a picture that is chiefly defined by negative space. We know who the villain won’t be. We know that the Joker won’t be in the movie. And now, we know for sure that Harvey Dent/Two-Face won’t appear in the film. He’s dead. Sorry to be the one to break it to you.
Even though most people assumed that Two-Face was dead, all of the evidence certainly pointed that way, that didn’t stop rumors to the contrary from spreading. Even Aaron Eckhart was unclear about the situation, so he did what anyone with Christopher Nolan’s phone number would do, he asked him. Here’s what the ridiculously handsome actor told MTV about the conversation:
“Chris and I had a meeting, on the beach, just the two of us. I said, ‘Chris, a lot of people are asking me if I’m in the next ‘Batman.’ And Chris said, ‘Yes?’ I said, ‘Am I?’ He looked at me and he said, ‘No.'”
Eckhart said he was “heartbroken” to hear the news, but was honored to be a part of “The Dark Knight”.
And yes, he also confirmed that he and Nolan did in fact meet on a beach on a stormy afternoon. You can watch him explain that one for yourselves.
