Two More for Rod Lurie’s Nothing But the Truth
Political minded Rod Lurie has added two more new castmembers to his latest political thriller, “Nothing But the Truth”. Angela Bassett (”Akeelah and the Bee”) and former “ER” star Noah Wyle has join the cast that already includes Kate Beckinsale, Matt Dillon, Alan Alda, Vera Farmiga, Harry Lennix and David Schwimmer. In “Nothing But the Truth”, a reporter (Beckinsale) who reveals the identity of a CIA agent is sent to jail for refusing to reveal her source. Bassett plays the supportive editor in chief at her Washington paper where Beckinsale’s character works, and Wyle plays the lawyer placed in charge of defending her.
Yari Film Group CEO Bob Yari is producing with Battle Plan Prods.’ Lurie and Marc Frydman from Lurie’s script. It’s Lurie’s second teaming with Yari Film Group since the August release “Resurrecting the Champ.” Filming began this month in Memphis.
The whole shebang is obviously based on the brouhaha that developed when Valerie Plame’s CIA identity was revealed for political reasons by New York Times reporter Judith Miller, who went to jail for 85 days for not revealing her source.
