Two More Up for Roles in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Previous news on Timur Bekmambetov’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” had the kooky but talented Joaquin Phoenix in talks to play Honest Abe’s mentor, but apparently that hasn’t worked out, because Phoenix is now out and “The Devil’s Double’s” Dominic Cooper (left) has taken his place. Cooper is in talks to play Henry, the man who teaches Abe the ways of slaying vampires.

Also up for a role in “Vampire Hunter” is “The Hurt Locker’s” Anthony Mackie (below), who is currently in negotiations to play Abe’s best friend. I suppose it makes sense that Benjamin Walker’s Abraham Lincoln’s BFF would be a black guy, being that Abe would eventually become known as the Great Emancipator and all that good stuff.

“Wanted’s” Timur Bekmambetov is directing the film for Fox, based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, who also penned the script.
