Two New TV Spots For I Am Number Four

DreamWorks has released a pair of new TV spots for their upcoming teen sci-fi romp “I Am Number Four” (a title that never fails to make me think of the scene in “Austin Powers” when Mike Meyers is flushing the guy’s head in the toilet, yelling “who does Number Two work for,” while Tom Arnold cheers him on. But I digress).

Here’s the official synopsis:

Three are dead. Who is Number Four? D.J. Caruso (“Eagle Eye”, “DIstrubia”) helms an action-packed thriller about an extraordinary teen, John Smith (Alex Pettyfer), who is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events—his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities, and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny.

The TV spots are short, but give you a decent idea of the plot and the style of film “I Am Number Four” is going to be (and you can see the direct influence of “X-Men” and other teen-mutants-with-cool-powers flicks). It looks like it could be entertaining, or suck unbelievably bad.

“I Am Number Four” opens on February 18, and stars Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, and Dianna Agron.
