Two New TV Spots for Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Fox has released two new, fast-moving TV spots for Rupert Wyatt’s “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”, starring James Franco, Tom Felton, David Oyelowo, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Freida Pinto, and Gollum himself, Andy Serkis as Caesar, the ape that started it all. If nothing else, the spots prove my long-held theory that cute animals will always, eventually, rise to bash your head in with a wrench when you least expect it. Or was that my theory about children? Well, one or the other.

A single act of both compassion and arrogance leads to a war unlike any other — and to the RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. The Oscar-winning visual effects team that brought to life the worlds of Avatar and Lord of the Rings is breaking new ground, creating a CGI ape that delivers a dramatic performance of unprecedented emotion and intelligence, and epic battles on which rest the upended destinies of man and primate.

The apes rise and attack August 5, 2011. Run, kids, run now!
