Two New Very Cinematic Looking Posters for Thor

Dunno, but these two new posters for “Thor” (via Empire) just looks, well, more cinematic than the previous ones. You look at these and you think, “Okay, now THESE are movie posters.” Just sayin’. Check them both out below, won’t you?

Thor spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Starring Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Ray Stevenson, Rene Russo, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Clark Gregg, Colm Feore, Tadanobu Asano, Adriana Barraza, Joshua Dallas, Matt Battaglia and directed by Kenneth Branagh.

Hammerin’ home May 6, 2011.

Love the second one!! It’s classic! Also good to see Idris Elba’s heimdal all up in th promotion.

The second one is awsome! However I completely disagree on the Heimdall thing. Why is he on the poster at all? In the comics he was a supporting character at best. I can only assume that he is going to be a really big part of the film. I think that the symetry would be better for the poster with three at the top (Portman on the left, Hiddleston in the middle and Hopkins on the right) with Hemsworth at the bottom kneeling with mjolnir. Just my opinion.

As far as 2011 movie trailers go, not sure how good this one really is. I mean I like it but odes it really compare to a list like http://www.filmcrave.com/trailers_new.php? Seems a bit odd but I think there are better movies coming out.

If anything, any minor Asgardian that deserves to be on the poster would be BALDER THE BRAVE or Lady Sif. I haven’t the slightest idea of what happened to Balder or is he even in this movie. Balder is a more integral character even more than The Warriors 3, cuz Balder is Asgard’s 2nd mightiest warrior and his prophesied death is the catalyst for “Ragnarok”. I guess we just have to wait for the sequel.

I think that he’ll probably be introduced in the film as a supporting character and maybe delve more into his character in the next installment. I’d really like to see the two of them square off on the big screen!

Yeah bringing him in as a major character right now would be too much, but as a supporting character just to get the name, likeness, and role in there would be good.

I hope he is already in there. However if he hasn’t been cast already, I’d personally like to see a beefed up Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights) as Balder The Brave. Him or Desmond Harrington (Dexter, Wrong Turn) whom I already cast a few years back in my Captain America movie as Winter Soldier to Anton Yelchin’s Bucky.

I do too, especially with his role becoming so much more prominent again in the comics.
