I had heard about Jiang Wen’s “Let the Bullets Fly”, but I had no idea it was some kind of blood-splattering, outrageous, over-the-top action/comedy. Or at least, that’s what these two new U.S. trailers are selling it as. In case you’ve been waiting all this time to see the film finally arrive in Stateside theaters, than this post is for you. Variance Films and Well Go USA have the film currently scheduled to open in limited release March 2nd, 2012. Unless you live in the two coasts, finding the film will be a tad difficult, but the film’s official site has a list of theaters where you can watch the craziness unfold on the big screen. Unfortunately there’s nothing listed on the site as of this posting, but that could change soon.
In this pitch-black action-comedy, the legendary bandit “Pocky” Zhang violently crosses paths with the con man Tang, who desperately offers up an intriguing proposition: Zhang will become the governor of Goose Town, where he can make more money in a month than he would in a year of train robberies. But neither realizes that Goose Town is already under the iron rule of Master Huang (Hong Kong action legend Chow Yun-Fat), a ruthless and wealthy crime lord. Zhang and Huang begin a hyper-violent and hilarious series of escalating mind games in this witty, masterfully vicious film, China’s highest-grossing of all time.
The film, showing up at over two hours of running time, stars Chow Yun-Fat, Ge You, Carina Lau, and Feng Xiaogang. Jiang Wen, who not only takes part in the madness as a co-stars, also directs the mayhem.
